V5 Beta 3 is out: four new languages including Arabic, and hundreds of fixes

The third V5 beta round: four new languages including Arabic, one-step domain pricing, sequential order numbers, Microsoft 365 for SMTP and hundreds of fixes.

5.0-beta.3, the third beta round of V5, has been open to every beta installation since October 10. It is our most extensive round so far: the release notes list more than six hundred changes, and many of them come from your reports. This post collects the highlights and what you should know before you update.

Four new languages, with Arabic as the first right-to-left language

Ukrainian, Portuguese (Portugal), Greek and Arabic arrive with this round and are enabled by default. Arabic is the first right-to-left language in V5: the admin panel, themes, live chat, invoice page and PDF are mirrored in it.

Shorter everyday work

Domain extension prices now update in one step: apply a percentage, cost plus margin or a fixed amount to the extensions you select and see the result in a live preview. Missing multi-year prices are filled from the first year, and you can limit a change to chosen currencies. With sequential order numbers, new orders can take the order ID as their number, and invoices can start from a number you choose.

Domain registrations that the registry completes later are now tracked, and the service activates on its own once the name is registered. A server's services can be moved to other servers in the same step as deleting it. Virtualizor products can place new VPSs on an automatically chosen node, on a server group or on a specific node. Add-ons can also carry their own auto-renew setting.

Reseller discounts can be limited to the billing cycles you choose, for example to monthly purchases and renewals only. Registrar modules are now managed from their own page: it shows the module's status, the module is switched on or off by assigning or moving its extensions, and Extensions and Prices can be filtered by registrar.

Email and website themes

Standard SMTP can now sign in to Microsoft 365 with OAuth 2.0. The WStyle and Basic themes gained a Default Display Mode setting (light, dark or automatic) and a Content Width setting that lets page content grow wider on large screens. Automatic www can now also send visitors to the address without www.

What to know before you update

Some behavior changed on purpose in this round; please look through these before you update:

  • Orders are confirmed when payment is received, and stock is reduced at that moment.
  • Automatic payment no longer charges on the morning the invoice is issued, but in an adjustable window around the service due date.
  • Services and add-ons are no longer suspended or cancelled before the due date of their renewal invoice.
  • The low-balance reminder is now off by default. Turn it on under Automation → Other Settings; when on, it follows its waiting period instead of reminding daily.
  • Payment modules: some no longer process payment notifications while their secret key field is empty; check that these fields are filled in your settings.
  • Support Settings is now a separate privilege: the update grants it to groups with the Privileges permission; tick it for groups that reached the settings through Support → Edit only.
  • Staff signed in to a client account from the panel can no longer change its email, phone, password, passkeys, two-factor authentication or API keys.
  • Bulk notifications go only to contacts who accept marketing notifications.
  • Some deprecated payment and SMS modules cannot be switched on again once switched off; the release notes name them.
  • Client API integrations: domain endpoints now return 422 when the registrar gives a reasoned rejection and 500 when it is unreachable, the same as the Admin API. This is a breaking change, so please review your integration.
  • The home page now lives at the site root, and /home redirects there.
  • The admin panel sidebar starts collapsed until you open it.

Notable fixes

Several important billing fixes are included. With tax-inclusive pricing, a recalculated order invoice added VAT twice; reports counted invoices paid from balance as income a second time; and domain renewals sent the original registration term to the registrar instead of the years paid for. Cases where the price shown on the website could differ from the invoice are also fixed. The domain status check could cancel live domains on a temporary registrar error or a single "transferred" answer; that answer must now repeat 12 hours later. Updates also no longer overwrite an installed language's company details and settings. For installations upgraded from 3.x, module definitions, custom renewal prices, scheduled jobs and admin privileges are now kept.

Security

This round includes more than fifty security improvements, and situations that could lock an administrator, staff member or client out of two-factor sign-in have been resolved. The details are in the release notes.

Developers and integrations

When a service record is edited from the panel or the Admin API, the action:service.updated hook now fires with the changed fields. Modules can add an action strip to a staff reply and a badge to the Related Service card on the admin ticket page. Dedicated admin operations change a service's scheduled dates, an invoice's due date or a software license key alone. Domain lines on an admin order can carry custom nameservers. In the Admin API, a ticket reply can be added as an acknowledgement note (keep_status) or without emailing the client (notify_client), and an add-on's pricing type can be read and written. Hook listeners registered as an array or a class method name now run, and theme templates can choose the plural form of a phrase from a count. The theme files changed in this round are in the comparison on GitHub.

Updating and feedback

Your beta installation finds the update under Help → Updates in the admin panel; we recommend taking a file and database backup before you update. Every change is listed in the release notes. Please keep sending the issues you run into with the Report a Bug button in the panel; many of the fixes in this round started there.

Not in the beta yet? You can apply with the "Request Beta Access" button on the release page.
